It was a hot and humid morning when President Linda Meece gaveled to order the Aug. 2 meeting of Jacksonville Sunrise Rotary Club. Guests included honorary member Bill Meyer of Decatur, Casey Hummer and two of his two children, and Steve Retzer.
After a round of Rotations and Recognitions from those members present, President Meece made announcements and offered reminders of upcoming events.
Casey Hummer was introduced as the speaker for the morning. He opened a new business, Mower Medic, in June in the South Jacksonville building formerly occupied by Village Cyclery. He provides lawn mower service and repair, including blade sharpening, service for gas weed trimmers, saws, generators, tillers, log splitters and snowblowers. He elaborated on his extensive experience in small engine service and repairs and noted that he soon will be an authorized dealer for Toro lawn products. He has a degree in elementary education from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and was an elementary teacher for some years. He and his wife, Monica, are parents of six children.
President Meece adjourned the meeting at 7:40 a.m.
